Finch, Bridgeport basketball legend kick off partnership with Titan Energy

Mayor Bill Finch and Bridgeport basketball legend Chris Smith kicked off Bridgeport’s partnership with Titan Energy and Direct Energy during an event at City Hall Annex on April 19. This new partnership will set a new fixed price for electricity customers who participate in the Direct Choice program.

Direct Choice is a marketing agreement between Direct Energy and the city that allows residents and small businesses located in the city to lock in their electricity supply price for a specified period of time.

For the June 2012 through April 2013 billing cycles, Direct Choice customers in Bridgeport will pay $0.0729 per kWh for electricity (exclusive of utility charges and taxes). Senior citizens age 65 or older are eligible for a discounted price of $0.0719 per kWh. The Renewable Wind Energy Certificate Product will be $0.0779 per kWh. Furthermore, customers will receive a $25 Visa gift card when they successfully enroll in the program.

Smith, a native of Bridgeport, is the all-time leading scorer for the University of Connecticut mens’ basketball team with 2,145 points. Smith was an All-American high school basketball player at Kolbe Cathedral, where he currently serves as head coach of the school’s boys’ basketball team.
